USAID PLASTIC RECYCLING PROJECT SUPPORTED SET UP OF NEW SEVEN ECOLOGICAL ISLANDS IN KARPOSH

On February 28, 2008, USAID Plastic recycling project in cooperation with Komunalna Higiena and the Municipality of Karposh set up seven new ecological islands. Fully equipped ecological islands are placed close to the buildings on following streets: Zenevska, last bus stop of line 24; Pariska, close to the “Georgi Dimitrov” High school; at the corner of Volgogradska and Vodenska str.; Dimitar Buzev str ; close to the post office on Bull Partizanski Ordedi, Karposh 2 and at the street Nikola Rusinski, close to the offices of the Karposh Municipality.

Komunalna Higiena supplied the Ecological islands with PET bottles for primary selection of the plastic waste to be used by the citizens in above-mentioned neighborhoods.  Plastic waste from the households will be collected biweekly, while schedule for collecting PET from the iron containers be planed in correspondence with the dynamic and quantities of selected waste placed in them.  PET will be collected with special type of vehicles that will serve for this purpose.
