Forum Dedicated to Waste Managment in the Polog Region
On 17 December 2007, at SEE University in Tetovo, the Institute for Environment and Health held a Forum to initiate its Waste Management Project. The goal of the Project is to find the best approach to manage waste in the broader Region of Polog. The Polog Region includes 8 municipalities that cover 5% of the total area of Macedonia, or 15% of the whole population.

Murtezan Ismaili, the Rector of SEE University, opened the Forum. He spoke about the importance of raising public awareness with regard to waste management. Dr. Mile Srbinovski presented on raising public awareness to change behavior. Frank Riedel, a representative from Inter-Engineering Company, gave a presentation describing technology used in Germany to sort and process waste, ultimately turning organic waste into bio-diesel fuel. Finally, Arijan Toska, Project Director of the USAID Plastic Recycling Project, described this Project and its activities.
The Forum was organized with the support of the USAID Plastic Recycling Project.
