The Green Schools Project extended to additional 15 primary schools in Macedonia

On 10th of October 2009, the Executive Director of MDC-Ti.Net and Chief of Party of the USAID Plastic Recycling Project, Arian Toska signed the extension contract with AED (Academy for Education Development, Washington) representing USAID Primary Education Project.

In the new phase, the project will be implemented in new 15 primary schools. Schools will be invited to participate in the project through public call. (more information available at www.greenschools.org.mk)

Note:
The pilot phase of the Green School Project was implemented from 1st June 2008- 31 July, 2009. The pilot phase resulted with comprehensive methodology that will guide schools to serve as an example to the community for: energy efficiency, waste recycling, saving of water and transportation habits. In all schools Green clubs were established. They operated following the environmental management standard, ISO 14000. In order to monitor the expenditure of energy, water, waste treatment and means of transport, green clubs were equipped with video-cameras, bikes and grants for implementation of the school based projects. During the project implementation members of the Green Clubs organized awareness campaigns at schools and in their communities.  At the end of the project Guidebook for teachers for implementing the project at school level and Daybook for surveillance of the schools were printed and distributed.
